What day off?

You know what I mean…

Moms and wives who work outside the home who may get a day “off” (like me – today – with a sick kid) but it’s never really a day off.  Sometimes I feel like I’m under even more pressure to get caught up on the things that may have been ignored, forgotten, or just not gotten to during the last week, month, or year.

I think my brain hurts more than if I was at the soul sucking job.

I want so much to be the absolute most productive with my time – growing my business, ensuring dinner is ready at a reasonable time, the children have their homework done, etc… (Oh crap – I didn’t do that load of clothes I wanted to do- dammit!!)  sometimes I can multi-task better than an octopus.  Sometimes I can’t.

Sometimes I try too hard.

and it backfires.  I don’t believe that life always has to be such dang hard work.  I’ve come to realize that when it starts to feel like work – that’s when I know I’m trying to control something out of my realm.  Meaning – someone or something that’s not me.

We all have the power of choice.

Once we start pinpointing what’s ours, it gets a little easier to make the choices… So – that leads me to today’s question –

What’s not yours that you’re trying to hold on to?

Maybe it’s a bill, maybe it’s a spouse or child’s behaviors, maybe it’s what’s on TV.  Let me know – is there something you’re trying to force that’s not yours?  I’d love to hear about it!
