3 things to remember when you’re in a funk

I’ll be the first to admit when I’m cranky.

Sometimes it’s between moon cycles, sometimes it’s seasons of the year, sometimes it’s seasons of life in general. There’s just something about that ‘in between’ space that feels super uncomfortable.  It can take time to get used to changes. Transitions can be rough. Any time there is a shift, it takes some getting used to.

Here’s 3 things to remember when you’re in a funk:

#1 – You are not alone.

I know it can be super lonely and if you’re anything like me, when I’m cranky I tend to push people away.  It’s like a porcupine – stay away – my bullshit tolerance is at a minimum.  Having someone (or a few people) that you can vent to can make all the difference.  Your higher power can also bring comfort.

Identify at least one person that you can share with and who will listen unconditionally as you get all that ‘stuff’ off your chest.  Bonus points if they can provide you with actionable suggestions to get you out of your slump! 🙂

#2- You don’t have to be a victim

I got blasted a few weeks for suggesting that there are lessons in every experience. Some people aren’t ready to get off the pity pot, and that’s OK – but when you get tired of having a ring around your ass and decide to get up and claim your power back, know (REALLY know) that

Things don’t happen TO you – they happen FOR you.

#3- You have choices

Admittedly, sometimes it’s rock vs hard place, but there are always choices.  One thing that I’ve realized is that many times, you can choose differently if you find you need to.  Not many choices in life are final (although there are a few). Usually when we’re confused, and afraid it’s because we really DO know what choice is right for us (that’d be our intuition) but because we don’t fully trust her, we have trouble remembering #1 and #2.  I know it can be difficult when you’ve spent much of your life catering to others.

Make choices based on what’s best for YOU – your intuition will point you in the right direction.
